Uzbekistan is located in the heart of Central Asia. Almost three-thirds of the country are steppes and deserts, and another third are mountains, valleys and oases. Tashkent is the capital of Uzbekistan, the population of the capital is 2.5 million people.
The Uzbek border is 6,221 km long. Uzbekistan is a neighbour of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Afghanistan and Turkmenistan.

Uzbekistan owns the national airline, Uzbekistan Airways, which offers both domestic and international flights. The international airport is located in Tashkent.

Flora and fauna
Uzbekistan has a continental climate. It is characterized by long hot and dry summers, cold winters. Natural landscapes are represented mainly by the steppes and there are no large forests. The rich flora and fauna of Uzbekistan attracts many professional bird watchers, as well as nature lovers from around the world.
Religion
About 93% of the population are Sunni Muslims, Christians and Jews (Bukhara Jews) are religious minorities.
Food
Uzbek cuisine is very diverse, there are more than a thousand dishes. Soups such as Shorpa and Naryn, main dishes are Pilaf or Manti, or also Lagmon. All year round, people drink green tea, in the summer they prefer Iron (chilled yogurt) and fruit juices. Alcoholic beverages are generally not very popular.

Every year in Uzbekistan, nine public holidays are celebrated: January 1 – New Year, March 8 – International Women's Day, March 21 – Navruz, May 9 – Memorial Day, September 1 – Independence Day, October 1 – Teacher's Day, December 8 – Constitution day. The two main Muslim holidays in Uzbekistan: Ramadan Khait (June 5-6) and Kurban Khait (August 12-15).
